With an installed on the computer program for image editing like Photoshop, you can create from "normal" pictures and small works of art. I'm a fan of online software, which are programs that need to be installed not only long on the computer. For image editing I use currently Pixlr and "magical" so little of art, as the following pictures:

kaleidoscope
polar coordinates
thermal imaging
For Crafts: Original call on and change one of the many filters. It may play with the settings.
