Yes, e-learning is actually part of my work or my everyday life? I was after my last e-learning resource, or sly? These are some of the questions that Jochen Robes in its call for papers for the 2nd Issue of cognitive Blog Carnival (March '09) provides.
encourage me to think of these questions, because as I am trying now for almost 7 years - with varying success - older adult learning in the form of online learning (= learning) to get closer. And what I have organizer actually learn? Very much and this concerns mainly two areas that I would like to touch briefly:
The technique
- early 2002 was an ISDN internet access available and we still had serious problems with a good voice and the presentation of one's own computer screen was virtually impossible. Today, thanks to the broadband Internet throughout different!
- Interested older people have made in recent years with computers and the Internet so familiar that they no longer ask how to install the software for Skype and how they should only connect the headset. They have learned to deal with technology, or - in my opinion is much better - to have established a helper network.
The method
- early 2002, I have my online meetings planned very carefully and a presentation with 30 slides (= one for 2 minutes) is created. Even my questions and possible activities of the participants were well considered. We see could eLearning 1.0 Greetings and long working life in a rehearsed role of moderator / coach can not be stored easily. My esteemed speech content: 95%.
- Over the years, has changed not only the technology but also the nature of learning and teaching. I direct the activities of my participants through practical exercises as possible, I merely explained to express questions by e-mail or individual coaching. In common online meeting with all participants, I then try a Diskusisson on the issues raised to moderate and may enable the participants the presentation of own results. That might have something more eLearning 2.0 be, I think. My esteemed speech content: 55%.
So - to get back to the questions from the beginning - and I have learned a lot as an organizer and wish only that there are more older adults who share their experience in using computers and the Internet to others. Then so should slowly reduce the number of those for whom "these new technologies in general are not necessary,"
